If you were to come over for a cup of coffee…
I would probably be super excited to show you the progress on the back deck. We are almost ready to enjoy the pool (finally) but I cannot wait! The rain held us back a bit this week… along with my husband deciding we should expand what was already a huge deck. But in the end it will be worth it. So hopefully we can start enjoying that this coming week. Fingers crossed. Let’s just hope the weather cooperates.
I would also show you the progress on the kitchen (blog post coming soon!) we have been working away on the kitchen… and trying to get something finally finished. Everything has been so half way… I haven’t wanted to share… the cabinets are half painted… walls half painted…. Tile half complete. But that’s the story of our lives.. We are easily distracted and when we get tired of working on something we move to something else. But we are back to the kitchen now and we should be having something worth showing this coming week.
I would probably share with you a few conversations from Maddux… which go like this
Maddux: Mom, I know what kind of store I am going to have when I am older.
Mom: What’s that buddy?
Maddux: A store that gives out free chicken pot pie… while you shop for toys.
Maddux: Comes into bathroom and whispers to dad: I have two balls
Maddux: if you squeeze them they hurt
Dad: Don’t squeeze them
Maddux: Sometimes, I do squeeze them. What are they there for
Dad: I’ll tell you when you are older
Maddux: (hands in pants) nods and walks away
The other night the kids were fed dinner before the t-ball game. So when we got home, I didn’t feel like cooking something. So I made myself a bowl of cereal. Cinnamon toast crunch to be exact (because is there a better cereal????) but he says..
Maddux: Mom, Did you eat cereal for dinner?
Maddux: Sugar Cereal?
Maddux: You are not healthy.
Mom: blank stare and immediate regret on calories and sugar consumed.
I would also tell you how this weekend we are crazy busy. We are heading out to my brother in law’s second city show he is putting on tomorrow night and then Sunday we are spending the day at the horse races with my husband’s family. Have you taken the kids to the horse races on Sundays? They have a little family day… it’s pretty cute. I am hoping Hudson does well. He is at that hard age… where he wants to be able to do what he wants but he can’t communicate and I do not give him enough freedom as he believes he should have… so the result. Lots of screaming. Lots of tantrums… pretty standard for this age. It’s really hard to do anything. I think this is the stage we block out as mothers. And then it comes back around on the second one.. And you are like… oh yeah… that’s right… this stage. The stage where you can do nothing but sit at home because that sweet smiley faced child that you love with all your heart turns into a mini demon in public … so we are in that stage. And it’s lovely :)
But honestly… as hard as this stage is… I love seeing Hudson’s little personality come to life. He is obsessed with balls. Obsessed. So naturally… my husband is already day dreaming about his MLB days in the future (insert eye roll) but honestly the second kid is so new to me. He is so determined to do what Maddux is doing. He just wants to be big. And it’s so fun to watch. So I’ll take out the Xbox controller battery and he thinks he is playing along with Maddux… its adorable. Or if Jer and Maddux are playing basketball I give Hudson the volleyball and he runs around tossing the volleyball. It’s adorable how much he just wants to do what they are doing. The younger sibling is such a fun experience… he is just so aware and so observant.. And so stinking happy most of the time. Unless we are in public and I try to make him hold my hand as he walks… then well then… you know how it goes.
On a side note… I started running almost 4 weeks ago. I decided I wanted to get back into it and once Jerry was off of school I thought it would be a good time to start. So I have been running 4-5 times a week and doing the 5k training program on my phone. So far it has been working out pretty good. I signed up for a race on the 4th of July.. And I am hoping I can just make it through without stopping. That is my only goal. To not walk.
Pretty little liars started back up. I get it.. My summer tv schedule mimics a 16 year old girl.. I mean I obsessively watch PLL and the bachelorette. But I don’t care. It entertains me. And to be completely honest… my husband is even more into the bachelorette than I am. I mean… he catches me up on all the gossip outside of the show. He’s addicted. Completely addicted.
Outside of that.. It has been a busy week and there isn’t too much to discuss.
So it would be time for me to actually get some laundry done and get the house cleaned up.
Until next week dear friend…
