I am on this kick…where I want an entirely new wardrobe. I am completely annoyed with my closet and I feel that over the past five years what works for me has changed… Maybe it’s becoming a mother of two… maybe it’s just getting older… whatever it is… I am in this mindset of re-vamping my closet completely.
However, I am pretty boring. I stick to the same styles. If I can’t wear it to work… I won’t even bother trying it on most of the time. I stick with Grey, Black, White, Tan, Navy. And that’s about it. I don’t add too much color in. And the only fun pieces of clothing are from back in my 20’s and well those might be a little “too fun” and probably about that time I get rid of a few things.
Does anyone else hold onto items of clothing for sentimental reason? I have a problem with sweatpants and hoodies… I have a pair of ISU sweatpants that I bought my freshman year… I will hold onto those babies until they fall apart. Same goes for my EconClub hoodies… or my dance t-shirts from high school. It all still fits at least….but not things I should be sporting every chance I get. So now you know… if you see me at Lowe’s on the weekend grabbing stuff for whatever project we have going on… and you see me in ISU holey sweatpants… you will understand… those mean something to me people! Even if they make me look homeless…. I love them
So a friend of mine was telling me about Stitch Fix the other week, and it was something I have read about online and had been curious about. So after talking with her… I decided to go for it and see how it goes
So let’s dive in and see how round 1 went
I have heard this is the one where a lot of people have had issues with… but based on their notes back to their stylist a lot of them were much happier with the 2nd round. So I had expected this first month being a little rough.
I got home from work and found this box waiting for me. Stitch fix comes with some styling options for your pieces and a note from your stylist.
So here’s the verdict. Don’t mind the terrible mirror selfies! Or the dust all over the mirror ;)
Bay to Baubles Ansel Triangle Collar Necklace $28
It is cute. Wasn’t something I fell in love with. But I could use this with a few shirts I own..
I kept this because I didn’t want to lose my 20 dollars. Since the $20 bucks was gone… I figured 8 dollars for this necklace was worth it.
41Hawthorn Colibri Solid Tab Sleeve Blouse $48-
I like the shirt itself. I am just not a huge fan of the color… Pastels are hard for me.. I feel like a giant Easter Egg. It was flowy which works well for where I am right now. However, I am not sure I would like how this fit a few months from now. I might have kept it if it were in another color.
41 Hawthorn Filbert Arrow Print Henley Blouse $58 –
When I logged into stitch fix and could see the names of what they sent. I was excited about this one… I had seen another arrow shirt floating round pinterest from Stitch fix and I thought for sure I had received that one. This is more of a chevron print to me. The sleeves are poofy at the shoulders… which I hated. I felt like it was very boxy and it pulled weird in the arm pits. It was just not meant for my body type at all. I have seen these on Pinterest where they look adorable on some girls. Sigh, Just not me…
41 Hawthorn Dita Sleeveless Ponte Dress$68 –
I really liked the dress a lot (it’s navy which is hard to tell in these terrible selfies) and if I didn’t already own 7 dresses similar to this I would have bought it. I am a sucker for plain dresses. I contemplated still keeping it for a while. But I couldn’t justify spending 70 bucks on a dress that I basically already owned.
Margaret M Emer High Waisted Trouser $98-
When I first read high-waisted pants… I thought I would HATE these. But shockingly. I liked them. They were just a tad too big and I knew they would stretch out during the day and that would annoy me. I wore them for a few minutes and they got a little saggy in my knees. So I just knew this would be an issue for me. If they had fit tighter to start out with… it might have been different. But for $98 … it wasn’t worth the risk. I decided to share the photo that shows how high-waisted they are… even though I am desperately trying to lose the rest of this baby weight.
So this month… I ended up not loving anything. I kept the necklace… because the $20 dollar styling fee is credited towards something you order. But if you keep nothing… you lose that $20 bucks. I figure for $8 dollars extra…. Its better than nothing at this point.
It was easy to pack everything back up and send it off in the bag they have already ready to go. I will say this is super convenient … I don’t have to go to the mall to try on things… they come right to me and I can send them back if I hate them.
Here is what I will be adding in my notes this month.
I will reach out about how I want them to take a look at my pinterest board. I felt like last time they went strictly off my notes… and what they sent wasn’t anything that I had liked. There are a few stitch fix items that I am listing specifically that I have seen that I am interested in and Ill see if those are still available or something similar. With it being August now… I am hoping for something a bit more fall based. So I linked a few things I had found online that I liked as examples.
To be fair to my poor stylist… I am a challenge at the moment. Your postpartum body is never very much fun and is almost depressing when trying on clothes… I know that I am getting closer and closer to being back into my normal sized clothing but still not close enough. I keep telling myself… I lost 53 pounds in 3 months and that is an accomplishment… But this last 14 lbs is going to be the hardest (Yes … add that up… I gain A LOT with pregnancy) I just need to stay positive and keep working towards my goal of getting there. I keep telling myself it takes time. I am just not lucky enough to be one of those girls… where the weight melts off. I am envious of those girls. But just because I am envious… doesn’t mean it will change. So I just need to work a little harder… eat a little smarter… and stay positive and I know that within the next few months things will be back to normal… well as normal as they get :)
The stuff they sent was cute and good quality. I am just going to need to love it to keep it. Crossing my fingers that my next box has something I love in it! I receive my next “Fix” in 2 weeks! Hopefully my specific notes back to my stylist help with the next box!
If you decided to try it… I would love it if you would use my referral link https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/5191297.
